I teach actors to live truthfully, create fearlessly, and turn craft into art one scene at a time.

"Michael is seriously one of the best actors I've ever worked with in my life..."
Michael's class is based on moment-to-moment work, a real person in a real place, using imagination and lived experience to create authentic, exciting performances.
The training also emphasizes the realities of a working career, ensuring actors bridge the gap between training and professional work.
The class primarily focuses on scene study, with students presenting fully rehearsed scenes that have been prepared outside of class with a partner.
Michael's class is a supportive, mixed-level environment where beginners, advanced actors, and working professionals can all thrive.
We also act on camera, and do monologues and cold readings.
What is your voice as an actor? No one else is just like you. No one else has what you have. Learn to develop and trust your instincts and impulses. Be bold. Find your uniqueness. That is your gold — mine it.
Be Present. Explore. Play.
"You'll be challenged but always feel safe to take risks, explore deeply, and grow through the work."
Michael Petted is one of Los Angeles' most dynamic and sought-after acting teachers. With over 15 years of experience, Michael has trained actors to break through creatively and professionally—helping them book roles, deepen their craft, and build lasting careers.
Michael has been a dedicated acting teacher since 2009, when he began teaching full-time at the renowned Beverly Hills Playhouse, where he spent ten years shaping the craft of hundreds of actors.
For eight years, Michael also served as the Head Acting Instructor for the Hollywood Immersive program, working with actors from around the world including Australia, England, and Africa, helping them bridge the gap between training and professional work.
"Today, Michael teaches his own scene study and on-camera acting class at The Hudson Theatre in Los Angeles, where his passion for truth, artistry, and practical technique continues to inspire actors at every level—from complete beginners to seasoned professionals."
The Playhouse is known for its celebrated alumni, including George Clooney, Michelle Pfeiffer, Alec Baldwin, Jorge Garcia, and Monica Barbaro.
Michael's studio is located in the heart of Hollywood's Theatre Row at The Hudson Theatre, which has been a landmark of the Los Angeles stage community for decades. It provides our actors with a professional, inspiring environment to hone their craft.
The Hudson's rich history and commitment to artistic excellence make it the perfect home for the Michael Petted Acting Studio.
I've had the privilege of knowing Michael Petted not only as an exceptional acting teacher, but as a mentor and dear friend. His guidance has shaped me profoundly, both as an artist and as a person.
Michael brings a distinctly directorial approach to his teaching. In his scene study class, actors rehearse and perform fully realized scenes with props, wardrobe, and blocking—creating an experience that feels much like working on a weekly play. This immersive, professional environment allows actors to engage with the work as it exists in real-world practice.
Like a director in rehearsal, Michael breaks down scenes with precision and insight, helping actors uncover specific beats and moments they can truly make their own. He explores multiple choices, challenges actors to go deeper, and then gives them the opportunity to immediately apply those discoveries through performance. This process trains actors to mine the script thoroughly and find the gold in every line.
Over the seven years I've worked with Michael, I've come into my own not only as an actor, but as a man. Through his mentorship, I've developed greater emotional intelligence, clearer and more honest self-expression, and the confidence to fully be myself—both in my work and in the world.
Michael's class is a supportive, mixed-level environment where beginners, advanced actors, and working professionals can all thrive. He has a rare ability to bring actors out of their shell while maintaining a safe space that encourages risk, growth, and authenticity. Actors seeking not only strong training, but also a collaborative community that regularly creates original projects—short films, feature films, and online media—will find his class especially rewarding.
